The Whitechapel Fiend (Tales from Shadowhunter Academy #3) by Cassandra Clare

Purchased: Kindle – $2.99

My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

Only read if you have read Cassandra Clare’s other novel: The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments.

What’s it all about?

Simon is at the Shadowhunter academy with two surprise visitors at once. Jace comes to try to support Simon and in his endeavors learn about his Herondale family line. Tessa comes in as a guest speaker for Simon’s class and teaches them about the real happenings of Jack the Ripper.

The Best Parts:

What I love about the Shadowhunter Academy series period is that all the characters come back to life. This one didn’t just stick to the Mortal Instruments characters but allowed fans to travel back in time to those of Tessa, Will, Cecily, and Gabriel. It made so some much needed nostalgia. The plot line of this story though did well with bringing it back to the future, and maybe I am biased since I love the story of Jack the Ripper.

The Worst Parts:

I felt that this one was a little short lived though. Granted it isn’t meant to be long, but I would have liked to have seen the interaction with Tessa and Jace and heard a story or two that she told him. I know the story is about Simon, but Simon isn’t the only one now a days trying to figure out who he really is.

Final thoughts …

If you are apart of this Fandom, buy this book. Yes next year it is going to be coming out in a hardback with all 10 stories together, plus a bonus, but buying these every month on kindle is what gets me through my Shadowhunter withdrawal. Also, who wouldn’t love to read about Simon, especially when he is still trying to figure out his feelings for Izzy.
